Archie is a young artist on holiday in Cornwall. He has an adventure that
starts with a decision to follow an unexplored path on Bodmin Moor.
Before long he comes across a sad and lonely King, whose only
companion is a fiercely protective knight. His kingdom has fallen into ruin
under the spell of an old Witch. Archie promises to help lift the spell and
restore the kingdom to its former prosperity by passing three tests set by
the Witch. Archie, helped by the Prime Pisky of Cornwall, encounters
Davey Jones, a fearsome two-headed giant and some flying salamanders
in his quest. The tests—ones that are quite appropriate for an artist like
Archie—plunge him to the depths of the ocean and take him soaring to
the Sun. There is, of course, an enchanted cat, who is central to the
whole story.
The Enchanted Cat
written and illustrated by Vincent Bennett
This children’s short story is illustrated by Vincent’s own work and was
written around 1950. A foreword written by his son, Jonathan, explains
further why this work has never before been published. “The Enchanted
Cat” is a genuine first edition, residing only in the digital domain as an
eBook.
The Great English Novel
by Vincent John Bennett
This is the beginnings of his autobiography, typed up from the original
notebooks - thanks to Jayne Desmond. It was written in the last few
years of his life and sadly, there is only “Chapter One”.
